This property had no surprises. Although it is a bit outdated, it was clean and the rates for the Stowe area were reasonable.
They are really pet friendly. They actually appear to enjoy the pets! Our dog was very happy there. Also they have a great pool.
It's before you hit the village of Stowe, therefore is not on the recreation path. Also the rooms do not have outdor patios.
Great position near several towns, including Waterbury and the Ben & Jerry's factory. In addition, it is in a very quiet place, great for relaxing.
The floor in the bathroom wasn't too clean and there were a couple of small spiders near the sink. The walls seem to be very thin between rooms and so is the door to the corridor, but our neighbours were not too noisy at all.
The hotel was very clean and the staff, very friendly and accommodating. Would love to go back in the winter and enjoy the lovely fireplace.
The location was convenient and it has a nice porch overlooking their pond. Booked.nets and a canoe and rowboat are available for anyone to use.
This is not so much anything we didn't like, but if you do not like dogs, or the fact that dogs are permitted to stay here, this hotel is not for you. There were quite a few dogs of all sizes staying here. All were very well behaved, but some people may not like this.
Location was good, food OK (good value on the prime rib buffet). Free wi fi a plus; grounds well kept.
Bed very uncomfortable. Breakfast overpriced; should have been included (at least continental portion). Some furniture in state of decay -- upholstery frayed. Won't stay here again.
very friendly staff. Have soft drinks(tea, coffee, juice) available 24/7
lighting in rooms not very strong and difficult if you like to read in bed. they advertise buffet breakfast and dinner, but theses were not available during my stay, as this was off season, but did not know this until after had checked in(they do have free continental breakfast)
Multiple hot tubs and a pool.
We booked a king room and were given a double queen. The hotel staff member working the desk that evening was not friendly. Because we were not given the king room requested we were told that we could not receive the discounted breakfast buffet rate. The king room we booked included the discounted rate, but it is based on the room you stay in, so because they gave us a different room we lost the discount. There are secluded hot tubs, but they are turned off, so unless you ask them to turn them early, they will be cold and it takes a long time for them to heat up.
We enjoyed the friendly service from the receptionists and restaurant staff. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. The food was excellent for supper and for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable for all that you get. The rooms were clean and well kept. We are looking forward to coming back to the Commodores Inn.
In an odd twist of fate, that evening we were the hotel's only guests. Needless to say, parking was super easy and there was no noise from the hall or other guests. But is was such a nice place I am sure that in season the hotel is much busier. Oh and for the first time in many years, I was handed an actual room key (made from metal with a room number tag). I had figured these were no outlawed by some act of congress. Hmmm, still having the ability to enter your room in the event of a power failure, someone should let homeland security know these devices exist.
In these days of sky high beds that you practically need a stepladder to get into, it was surprising to find a bed that barely came up to my knee. It was quite comfortable though.
The breakfast, which costs extra, was very good.
The property is older and in need of some updating.
The location for my trip; the indoor pool; the jacuzzis; the public fireplace area.
The poor soundproof from other rooms.
The on-sight Booked.nets on the on-sight pond are terrific amenities, as are the fishing opportunities on the same pond. Not to mention the 3pm cookies and lemonade in the lobby!
The cleaning staff didn't honor our "do not disturb" sign....minor issue though.
Use of the lake and Booked.nets. Good food, if not gourmet. Internet access in foyer. Pools - indoor and out.
Indoor fitness room rather tired. Indoor jacuzis not in operation and sauna needed 15 mins to heast up (but it would be inefficei9nt to have these hot all the time for the few guests using them).
The room wasn't too comfortable (low ceiling, no windows, no lift to reach it) and the wifi was never working properly
